Typical hazards & measures

• Muddy ground — Use ground coverings, such as mats or woodchips, in high-traffic areas. Monitor weather conditions and prepare additional coverings or drainage solutions. Provide clear signage to warn attendees of slippery surfaces and encourage the use of appropriate footwear.
• Noise levels — Monitor sound levels continuously to ensure they remain within acceptable limits to prevent hearing damage. Provide free ear protection for attendees and staff. Design stage layouts and speaker placements to minimize excessive noise exposure in non-performance areas.
• Moshing — Designate moshing zones near stages with visible signage and guidelines on safe behavior. Deploy security personnel to monitor activity and intervene if necessary. Provide barriers to separate moshing areas from general crowds and ensure access to first aid stations nearby.
• Use of stages — Ensure all stages are professionally constructed and inspected to meet safety regulations. Designate access points for performers and crew only. Conduct regular checks on stage stability and lighting rigs, and provide a clear plan for managing stage collapses or emergencies.
• Drug misuse — Enforce a strict no-illegal-drugs policy with visible signage and entry checks. Provide information on the dangers of drug use and have medical staff trained in handling drug-related emergencies. Collaborate with local law enforcement to ensure compliance and swift response to any incidents.
