• Safeguarding — Implement a comprehensive safeguarding policy and ensure all staff are trained. Conduct background checks on coaches and volunteers. Provide clear reporting procedures for concerns. Foster a safe and inclusive environment.
• Overexertion — Monitor players for signs of overexertion such as excessive fatigue or discomfort. Encourage regular rest and hydration breaks during matches and practices. Adjust training intensity based on players’ fitness levels. Educate players on recognizing their limits and the importance of pacing themselves.
• Inappropriate footwear — Recommend and enforce the use of appropriate cricket shoes with spikes suitable for the playing surface. Inspect players’ footwear for damage or excessive wear. Educate players on the importance of proper footwear for safety and performance.
• Slippery surfaces — Inspect the pitch and outfield for wet or slippery areas before play; delay or postpone matches if conditions are unsafe.
