Typical hazards & measures

• Runoff and drain entry — Avoid spraying before heavy rain or on frozen/saturated ground; fit drain covers; leave untreated margins on slopes; reduce volume on steep ground; use low-drift settings; collect and reuse washings on pads; stop immediately if runoff or sheens occur and report as required.
• Backflow prevention during filling — Use an air gap or approved backflow device at fill points; never submerge hoses; fit anti-siphon valves; supervise filling at all times; secure hose ends; site filling on impermeable, bunded pads; stop and isolate immediately if suck-back or foaming occurs.
• Enclosed-space application — Avoid indoor/enclosed spraying unless ventilation is effective; where needed, use fit-tested RPE suitable for the hazard per label; limit time in space; post exclusion; monitor odour/irritation; stop work and ventilate if indicators rise; document checks in the job record.
• Waste and empty containers — Triple-rinse empties and add rinsate to tank; pierce/crush to prevent reuse; store waste in bunded bins for licensed collection; retain waste transfer notes; never burn or bury pesticide waste; seal contaminated absorbents and label for hazardous disposal.
• Underground services — Obtain current utility plans; scan with CAT/Genny and mark corridors. Issue a permit-to-dig, hand-dig trial holes to confirm depth/route, and use insulated tools near LV. Set exclusion zones, brief all staff, and stop work immediately if warning tape or anomalies are found.
